But seriously, I snagged a quick shot after a real estate shoot and only had my 11-16mm lens with me. You should have seen the shot from the front- it made the grill look HUGE and was not flattering at all.
I removed the Johnson box and all remnants of oxygen sensing, as well as installed the original cracked-up dashbaord in my M535i. It's amazing how easy it is to install a dash that has to come back out. It slid right in and everything lined up. Took like 5 minutes. Another 30 to get all the lower panels back in place and the instruments hooked up.
I think it runs better, but I haven't driven it since January due to no dashboard. I couldn't wait two more months, so I decided to do the swap twice.

I pulled the antenna again and re-seated it from the bottom using every available spacer and washer that came with is and those available from the old one. Even that wasn't enough and I had to resort to assisting support with electrical tape. It is secure now and no longer floating around in the hole. Done.
And I replaced the driver's window door seal. If you're going to do that job pull the mirror. I tried it without pulling the mirror and got stuck at- you guessed it- the mirror part. The mirror only takes an extra 5 minutes to pull and is necessary in my opinion. So now Heinz is ready to take on the rain.
Next I want to pull the grille and paint it black again. Its a little faded- not bad- but noticeable against the rest of the car since the other paint is so good. Anyone have any suggestions on paint? I am planning on using SEM Trim Paint Satin Black unless someone else chimes in. I may or may not get to that soon. I still have a cold and its kicking my butt plus its also R/C airplane and helicopter season.

Over the weekend I put a Dinan chip in the '88 then chased down a couple of vacuum leaks and fixed an exhaust flange leak. She's running far better than I've seen her before and probably the best she has in a few years.

I found out that I won't need the window 'breaker' any more. For some reason, i thought the sunroof wouldn't work with it "popped". Now i know.
Next i need to try to fit the manual crank sunroof assembly from the e30. Did you know that all the manual crank parts cross to the e30, e24, and e28? Now you know. Guess i'll do the saab moonroof at the same time.

I took Heinz, my ///M5, on a drive of SE Ohio. Great trip, but there is a significant hesitation under full throttle that I'm going to have to address. I'm skewing towards fuel or air based on the symptoms but may post a tech thread after a more thorough search. Interestingly enough a quick search of "hesitation under hard acceleration M5" didn't deliver any S38 results, only M30 related issues.

Would you please send me a pm with the fitment of your wheels. I have been wanting a set of E34 17x8, 17x9 Alpinas (assuming that is what yours are), but were afraid they would not fit. Thanks Chris. Wishful thinking on my part. I actually tried a set of Hartge's in 17x8.5, 17x9.5 (off an E30 M3) and they ended up fitting better than I thought they would. Fenders are rolled perhaps more than I thought. I had the body shop roll them years ago to fit the RK's but have no specs on what they actually did. Bingo. Grass isn't all that much greener. I really like the 17x8 RK's on the car and went to a lot of trouble to find a 5th. They are perfect. I am bored. I go back to Europe to work next week. I was going to send the trim pieces as well to be covered in leather but I am not sure when I am going to put the leather dash in. Probably next winter...
Also installed most of the powder coated stuff from Todd, car is looking great.

Replaced the a/f in Lindsey's 85 eta and drove the piss out of it to and from DC. Over 1000 miles this week.
Repaired the cluster in the 88. Washed her goooood.
Coming up this week: Motor mounts and a/f in the 88.
This month hopefully: finish rear end suspension bushings, shadowline in full before Vintage.

On a side note, I ordered 2 sets of Hartge side decals, managed to locate a rear H5 badge, although the H5 badge is e34 correct. Pretty happy about that, though.. these things are bloody hens teeth. Also ordered some Leatherique filling compound which i'll use in refinishing the Alpina rear spoiler. If anyone wants to trade for a Hartge one, i'd be much obliged.. Tomorrow I'll be swapping my WAR chip out for a replacement, as after much deliberation, we have concluded it's the weakest link in this POS' running issues. If that doesn't get it running properly, i'll pull out the matches.

Replaced the center link, idler arm, both tie rod assemblies, and both front swaybar links.
Alignment appointment it tomorrow, hopefully it'll help with the pulling right and tire scrubbing, if not I'm going to start looking at upper and lower control arms, as well as the heat shield shown on Rod's site as my car doesn't have it installed.

Drove it 50 miles this morning, over the hills, a good run on the highway. It's run around town a lot the past 2 weeks, but this was the first good long run. The exhaust (VSR cat, stock center resonator and Euro Supersprint rear can) sound great all the damn time. There was a lot of minor tweakery done over the past few months and the engine was flawless.
The cruise did not pick up and cruise me down the road. I fiddled with the arm for a bit and gave up. Then I hit a big pavement break, large enough to skip the CD, and the cruise engaged. WHOA DOGGIE!!! WHOA!!!. That was cool. I'll fiddle with the clutch pedal switch and see if that gets me something. Phucking phabulous car.
