E28 537i-24v Turbo
Yesterday we had my brothers E28 on the dyno. Everything went fine exept that after 4500 rpm we need bigger injectors and a bigger fuelpump. So all the mapping was up to 4500 rpm.
The result so far:
448 rwhp and 510 rwlb/ft @ 4500 rpm.

We did most off the work ourselfs but the engine is build by a engine builder. The mapping is done by a guy who does alot of Scooby and Skyline tuning.
So now we need to work on a new fuelpump setup. We are going for a fuel cell in the trunk with a swirll pot and 2 Bosch 044 pumps. It also need bigger injectors but that the idle will be very bad so we are going for second fuel rail.

Great numbers! How does that rig compare to a Dynojet? What is the other wheel/hub doing during the pull?

525 (stock) RWHP to 604.3 (modified) RWHP = 15.1% RWHP increase
519 (stock) RWTQ to 619.2 (modified) RWTQ = 19.3% RWTQ increase
The same car with the same modifications, (no other changes) on Mustang Magic’s Dynojet dyno on 10-04-2010:
556.2 RWHP
554.8 RWTQ
The Dynomite dynoed 8.7% (.087) more RWHP than the Dynojet
The Dynomite dynoed 11.6% (.116) more RWTQ than the Dynojet
Or:
The Dynojet dynoed 13.1% (.131) less RWHP than the Dynomite
The Dynojet dynoed 16.2% (.162) less RWTQ than the Dynomite

This was a very nice and clean dynoshop. The owner had a second gen Supra with 2jz his self.

Where is your air filter located? The intake piping leads to the OE location for the charcoal canister. I'm interested because this is the same route I've taken. I assume the element is not trapped inside the hot engine bay...though you've added a partition.
Why the 745i turbo? Even upgraded there are much better options.
I'm not surprised you hit the ceiling given I presume stock fuel lines and pumps. A few rough calculations could have arrived at that result prior to strapping onto the dyno.

My question regards the location of the air intake: is it pulling from the engine bay or has a large hole been cut in the sheetmetal to pull outside air for the compressor?
That Nuke gear looks nice, though the surge tank isn't necessary if proper baffling is added to the fuel tank. I assume you're increasing the size of the feed and return lines also?

Yes, new lines also. We want a surge tank because we're going to do some drifting too.
The airfilter is down there where the ABS unit sits in other E28's. It gets air from a custom opening in the valance with a custom duct to the filter. An aluminium heat shield seperates the filter from the engine bay.
These dyno runs are done @ 15psi turbo pressure.

hell, i am thinking about adding a swirl pot to my street car, baffling is non existent by the performance of the stock tank even with a functioning intank pump, if i tried to autocross with under 1/2 tank in the old shark it would fall on its face, and i am in the same boat on the street in the m635 at 1/4 or less (just like the old car) try to take off too fast and vroom buhhh vroom. small surge tank is easier then cutting a hole in the tank then trying to weld it up without blowing up or creating a weak point

its a calculation of the wheel HP and the expected/measured losses, most cars loose 12-20% between the flywheel and the road, i think bmws come in at around 15%

The first driving and a driftday is done with the 537iT! The power/torque is unbelievable! It is now running on 14 psi because the boostcontroller is not working, we will get a new one soon.
Drifting went fine too, we can spin the tires in 4th gear all the way to the rev limiter and leave marks as long as 1600 feet!
