What did you do to your E28 today?

I drove an e28 with manual steering at socal vintage. It had a 4 banger and skinny (ahem, STOCK) tires on it and it wasn't too bad. We shall see...
Ha! Yesterday when i drove her (been dd'ing the e30) i reached down to the center console to roll down the windows... Oops.

OBC Led Conversion
Did the OBC LED conversion on my car since one of the old bulbs had burned out. Searched around the forum and largely followed this guide I found in one of the threads: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2205147/1 ... -5-series/
This may have been covered extensively somewhere I didn't find, but I wanted to share the components I used because I think they produced a near-perfect match to stock lighting:
560ohm 1/2W 5% resistor (Radioshack part #271-1116)
Two Linrose Superbrite 5mm LEDs 20mcd 20mA, 60 degree viewing angle, model B4304H3 (orange)
I was going to go with the LEDs suggested in the writeup, but no Radioshacks in my area had the right one, so I picked up these LEDs at a local "legit" electronics store instead. Soldered them in series, resistor first, followed by the 2 LEDs. Came out very nice. The color and brightness match is almost 100% spot on. The OBC is now just a hair more dim than the stock Radio lights when interior brightness is at max.

Attended my first CCA DIY event and had a blast. Met some great fellow Bimmer owners -- though I was a little surprised to be the only one representing for E28s out of 20 cars!
Changed the manual trans oil and replaced the fuel filter -- slowly working through my very long list. Also got good advice on the next project -- adjusting my steering box to eliminate the slop in there.

Just finished installing the heater valve rebuild kit using these instructions. I didn't have to remove the two screws holding it to the firewall. Just unscrewed the four screws on top and popped it out.
Bought my first e28 on Monday!
1986 535i 5 spd for $760 [seller didn't have change for a $20 dollar bill... ]
Today:
- attacked the groaning sound from the power steering pump by replacing the brake pressure differential switch
- adjusted e-brake so I no longer have to pull it into the back seat to get it to hold...
- examined my loud exhaust problem; turns out it may be the cat; we'll try some cheapo exhaust tape first!
- did a bit of degreasing in the engine bay; more to work to do there!
Ahhh, nothing like a fresh project!

uhhmn you should replace the power steering pump filter. A clogged filter or a loose belt will make the pump groan...mbertoli wrote:Bought my first e28 on Monday!

(Yesterday) I took a wire wheel on my drill to the tail light/brake/reverse/turn light contacts, bulbs, and holders. I replaced the holders that needed it and wire wheeled the ones that I could. I also retentioned the holders that needed it, slapped a bit of dielectric grease on all of the contacts and said goodbye to my brake check light that kept haunting me mid way to work. Yay!

I checked the filter; no clogs, fluid looked clean.
Fortunately it looks like it was just the switch that was allowing air into the system. The reservoir was bubbly... But not anymore!
