Re: Drunk Photo Rant
Is anyone else posting photos from Google Photos?
Without PicasaWeb, the links are all shit. Does this one work?

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I do, but I see all of mine. Not sure if other people do. I still use the picasa uploader, but I have to go to photos.google.com to get them, then right click the photo and put the address in. Only way it seems to work.
Re: Drunk Photo Rant
The actual Picasa-web was so much better to work with, when they let you select the size, etc.
I tried adding "=s800-tmp.jpg" (replace from the equals sign forward) to the end of the big photo link and it seems to be working, but as you mention I don't know if that's just for people who already have a connection to Google Photos or if it's for everyone.

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I still don't see your image.
Re: Drunk Photo Rant
Maybe this? Using a link from the "Album Archive" i.e. picasaweb, as you mentioned.
Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I can see clearly now.
Re: Drunk Photo Rant
Nice! I was happy with that output.

I've had a few beers this evening so piling on this aptly named thread. Haven't had a lot of time recently to play on mye28.com. Almost every thread I've visited tonight has f*cking broken photobucket links like this:
Flickr may be a PITA to use, and now that Verizon owns Yahoo who owns Flickr, they are sure to try replicate the brilliance of Photobucket, but at least photos you put there stay there and links always work.
Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I stuck with photobucket just to spite you.

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
This is really pissing me off (I'm sure a bunch of mucky-mucks at Verizon, Google, wherever just shuddered). I just went back to the stickied-B35 conversion thread only to find that the wiring guides originally posted by BradD are now gone. Fuck!!!! and fuck you, photobucket.cek wrote:Truer words have not been written.cek wrote:Stop using Photobucket. It's a piece of shit.

And it's killing me to think that cek is surely correct that Flickr will inevitably follow suit at some point.
Serious question, is there a permanent solution that this community could set up for hosting photos here? I'm sure it would involve $$, but it's not like we're not already spending tons on these cars and essentially using this place as our technical support guide.
Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I use imgur and it works great. Easy to use and the photos arent going anywhere. Permanent? Probably not but it is one of the main hosting sites for reddit and that will not change anytime soon. I really dont mind making a guide if needed.jhh925 wrote: This is really pissing me off (I'm sure a bunch of mucky-mucks at Verizon, Google, wherever just shuddered). Is that right? I'm looking at cek's post above:camplo wrote:I use imgur and it works great. Easy to use and the photos arent going anywhere.

cek wrote:camplo wrote:I've been using imgur successfully on other forums without issue. I read the thread linked earlier that they delete their photos if not viewed, but after searching I could not find anything recent that supports this claim. I think if you register/login and then upload you'll be fine.
Also for post that you would like archived you can submit them to https://archive.org/web/ I haven't used this before but just read about it on another forum.
You appear to be right. The FAQ that Imgur used to have that read:
http://imgur.com/faq#long
"As long as images are getting at least 1 view every 6 months, they will stick around forever. After that, your image may be removed to create more space for newer images."
...is no longer on their site. They have a new FAQ for Forum users: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/article ... rum-Users-
This seems to make it pretty clear they love us Forum users. However, I wonder how they plan on covering costs/making money? They, are after-all funded by investors and currently appear to have an advertising based model.
My previous reservations about Imgur seem void. For now. Cool.
However, at the same time, it's pretty clear who the product is for Imagr: Millennial Males:
http://www.imgurads.com/
Read that and you'll get real insight into the world of online advertising....Imgur is one of the largest, most concentrated and engaged communities of Millennial Males found anywhere on the Internet.

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I thought it would be appropriate to to just say " you told us so and I'm an idiot" I started out with shitbucket years ago was too lazy and photo/internet/sharing illiterate to bother listening to you. So now I've switched to Flickr and I guess I'll have to got and redo all my older posts ( cause so many people rely on my posts). Not only than all the other idiots who did what I did have no pics just a Pbucket notice reminding them they are idiots and to ( sign up) and get bent over a barrel and pay the big bucks. I think I saw $399 for a year, Fuckers!
Thx for trying warn me but you know idiots, they know better

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
Haven't had a need to try this but saw it another forum.
Google chrome plugin called, "Photobucket Embed Fix". Make sure to delete your cookies and restart Chrome in order for it to work.

Firefox has one too

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I trust browser plug-ins about as much as I trust bittorrent downloaders. Remember, for a browser plug in like this to work, it has to "see" everything your browser sees. If it can change the 'referrer' for photofucket links it can change anything.WilNJ wrote:Haven't had a need to try this but saw it another forum.

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
Well how about that, when I joined this site and saw there wasn't a built in photo-uploading system, the first photo hosting site that came to mind for me was imgur. And guess what, I'm a millennial male! Guess I've fallen for the trap, even though I really just use it to dump pictures of my car.

Any way of adding a plugin to this forum so all you need to do is click a button? Like maybe something like this?

Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I've been using both imgur and postimage with fine success since the downloader stopped accepting images, but lets face it, sooner or later all the free sites are going to charge one way or another. You get a bunch of ads, you pay, or you host it yourself. Of course paying doesn't necessarily mean $400 a year, but still... Free, no strings attached photo hosting is a money loser and sooner or later they're all going to figure it out.
Re: Drunk Photo Rant
I'm not drunk, but I've had it up to HERE with people suggesting other people use Chrome extensions to work around Photobucket's fuckery.
Here's why: Chrome extensions work by enabling developers to write code that sees EVERYTHING that passes through your web browser and then MODIFY it. This is how the Photofucket 'fix' extensions work. The extension "sees" every byte of every page your browser renders. It looks for <img> tags referencing photobuckets and CHANGES the page content (to fix up the links to one PB doesn't block).
Sounds ok.
Except, the developers who build these are NOT big companies. They are 17 year old kids sitting in their bedroom.
