WTB: OE windshield

Post by adstock »

Looking for a new or good condition OE windshield. Mine is badly pitted and unsafe when the sun is on the horizon.

Let me know what you have. Please PM me with details.

Best,
Adam

It is worth checking with your local dealer. These have gone in and out of production over the last decade as they have consolidated the various options between the US/NA and EU cars. So there might be a few around close to you.

I just pulled up the current PN for an E28 front windshield and BMW of Silver Springs shows it's available:

As with any of these, local pick-up is required as BMW will not ship these. But that's okay since any damage that happens to these in transit is on BMW, not you. Start calling around to the dealers in your area (or at distances you're willing to travel). You might get lucky.

Appreciate the suggestion but my local dealer is saying it is unavailable. Fingers crossed that there will be another production run in the future.

If you are desperate Wallothnesch in Germany sells windshield glass - It's about $325 or $350 for a front green shade but shipping will be about $4 to $600. I checked on this a few months ago. This is aftermarket glass but NOT made in China. I think it's made in Turkey. They sell a complete set for about $1200. Reputable parts outlet.

I've got one, I think out of my last E12, free, but IIRC it may not be in any better shape than the one you have.  I'm in Cloverdale, on the 101 corridor.  Again, probably not what you want, so old the color band is no longer color.

Careful with that one.  Might be a scammer.  One post, email address, probably wants payment in a nonrefundable method.
