Well if that's the case I bet the crank spins quite freely when turned by hand, as the description states.Tammer in Philly wrote:Guys,
I sent this link over to Brett Anderson at Koala Motorsports. He replied:
"Oooh. Nice SCAM.
That engine is empty. It's an old display engine that BMW used at car
shows years ago. It has no rods or pistons, amongst other things.
Brett"
Caveat Emptor, as always.

So he actually is selling that "engine"? I mean do you think he actually has that engine in his possession or is everything made up? I was just asking because if he does have that engine in his possession then he actually is freeing up himself from any fraud because he said he hasn't opened the engine up or anything so he could say he was unaware that there were no internals. Regardless....stupid people!

He acknowledged the issue in an update to the listing, says he's having it inspected. Could be he got scammed rather than being the original scammer.mogie wrote:So he actually is selling that "engine"? Well a quick check of RealOEM indicates it would be a steal at $2k if the block, heads and the rest of the components are new and in serviceable condition.Tim in N FL wrote:OK then...so what would it be worth as it sits IF it is EMPTY of pistons, heads, connecting rods, cams, valves, etc. The bidding is only up to ~$1200 with 6-days remaining. Should be interesting to follow...
Here's a few prices from RealOEM, which we all know isn't the real pricing any longer. Most prices are actually higher.
Block $8420
Cyl Head $4900 each
Crank $4000
So it's worth some bucks to someone needing the parts.
