I straightened my front bumper a bit today. Still diving forward, but enough not to piss me off until spring. Also, I discovered that, being a southern car, Hedwig never had a drop of actual coolant in her life.
Would have been nice if the PO actually said, say, I just put water in the thing cause it never gets below freezing. Well, the car did not heat up enough to get the whole system flushed out well. The 5 liters of fluid I put in (and the remaining rusty H20) will have to be enough until March when I will do a better job. Drove around some today, and I gotta say, on BF G-forces, shit this thing is HARRY!!! I did a 180 when I was only trying to do a mundane U-turn. She did strike a bitchin' figure though
. The heater problem just up and fixed itself. The foot well lever is to the right and I would rather drink my own urine than experiment with a new heater valve before the ides of March.

I went out to put my 'respect' sticker on but decided it was too cold. Went for a drive and it ran like crap at first. I think it was from sitting for so long. What started ages ago as a routine radiator R&R turned into a complete cooling system flush and R&R of hoses and that fu@king double tee thingy. I also replaced the diff mount and UCAs. Since it was up in the air I changed the trans and diff oil too. Once everything was done, the weather wouldn't cooperate and the next thing you know two months had gone by
Anyhoo, I had a nice drive and took some
pics. .

Haven't done a thing with it -- haven't even moved it -- since last weekend, but will have to move it tomorrow; it started snowing about 8pm, and we'll likely get about 4-5 inches by tomorrow. Snowplow time.

B6II is sounding like a lobstah boat again. The rumble is coming from the resonator area. I'm gonna take a peak as soon as I go out to work on a snow blower.

Jump started the 533, aired up the tires...and found 3 mice in my trunk. Got to take it for a spin around the block though. As soon as I can fix my wheels/tires (RSs need refinishing, and 2 have slow leaks), and get rid of the mice, it's gonna replace my 96 4Runner as a DD.

I replaced my B34 fuel rail. With a b35 on to match my ported by Dinan b35 intake, and boared throttle body.
And I found a Squirrel had been eating nuts on my fender well. Little bugger.

Added power steering fluid. Added windshield wiper fluid, then unclogged the wiper eyelets after getting clogged due to running out of fluid. Then had to recenter said eyelets after unclogging them. Worked out alright since the passenger side has always been clogged, at least during my ownership.
Finally, I washed it to have those fucking rats with wings (aka pigeons) shit all over it. Oh well

I'll take some pics of the hood damage and whats left of the fan.. First time getting under the hood of an E28. wasn't nearly as much of a PITA once I got the clutch fan broken loose.. off to Autobahn tomorrow for new (to me anyway) hood and maybe some more goodies.. Anyone know a reasonable body shop in San Diego?

Oil change, 6 quarts of Castrol GTX (I may go synthetic next time...or not) Auto Zone 5qts and a filter 17.99 (are there cars that use 5qts anymore or is this simply a way to advertise a cheap deal that is not so cheap in the end?), changed the defunct coolant level sensor (yea!!! no more check light!!!!), reset the service interval light in the cluster (green all the way across) with a little bit of wire...12 seconds connecting 1 and 7 pins, adjusted the parking brake cable, hunted down the intermittent brake light problem.

Put in the new toolkit. Missing a few pieces, but all found on ebay. Final cost $96. Does anyone know: what goes in the space beneath the emergency sunroof crank?

Actually, that was my first thought too, but he's asking about where the emergency crank resides in the toolkit.
I'd point you to the
Toolkit FAQ in the Tech Talk section but it seems the images are hosted at a sucky place and bandwidth limits have been exceeded. Bummer.
As for my e28, it got moved off the street in anticipation of tomorrow's big snowstorm. Eight inches of snow expected with 25-40mph winds. Happy stinkin' New Year.
