It looks like this one with 13k miles on it went for $45,990 from Enthusiast Auto Group in Cincinnati in March of 2012.

I would probably disclose mine via backchannel for now, let me check with Ed and see if he minds it being public.

Hey everybody I bought jamestr's 88 M5 for 9k this week. I love the car it has 150k miles on it & runs very strong. The car came chipped w/ a ssk & sway bars. The car looks great & appears that it has been taken care of very well. The front seats need a hug, they have seen better days.

FWIW, I've listed my E28 M5 on Autotrader. Search for M5s in zip code 35805 and it should be the only one there. I bought one of their "run it until it sells" packages.

ImageYou should list it here in the For Sale section, w/ pics.

My car sold this past Saturday. I managed to get $8,500.00 for it with 220k miles on the odometer. It was in very good shape for the miles (looked great!), but did need a little work here and there. Thus ends my 12 year M-odyssey.

So If you haven't read the backstory on my M5 I paid the scrap price worth in metal from my father who was going to sell it to a scraper.

1986 Euro Spec M5
Diamond Black Metallic
Black Leather

So $350 was my purchase price with the condition it is in now if I had to sell it would probably go for I would hope $8500.00

I think anything between $8-14k is reasonable if it is in good running and physical condition.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the E28 M5 values might be slowly growing?

It seemed many cars were at an all time low last year, but it appears to have gotten better (at least what cars and sales I have been watching).

RCBMW, maybe you have the best idea of the market?

I bought the Zaprace body kit car for $4k. After I sell the wheels/tires and audio stuff, it should be more like $2500. It is a rust free CA car with a crack free dash. The excellent condition original "is" rear spoiler was included and will be reinstalled. The interior needs a good cleaning and the seats recovered. Head job at 100k, UUC shifter, driveshaft stuff and brakes done. I'll weld up the rivet holes from the body kit and clean up the M Tech kit and it should be a looker.

I'll post pics in the spring. Right now it's packed away in the garage.

That looks like a nice example the way it sits actually. Are you taking off the body kit? Don't get me wrong I would never modify my car but that one actually looks pretty unique that way.

It will look like a regular mtech kit, but I need to do something with the hacked up front cover. Might just buy another cover.

just bought us M5

New to the forum and new to M5 ownership. Just picked up my 1988 E28 build date 11/87, last week. Schwartz/Natur with all matching panels, no accidents, near perfect paint aside from front spoiler, which could use a touch up. Car is original aside from throwing star rims, rear SLS delete, and short throw shift. Previous owner just installed Mtech springs and Bilsteins all around. Interior is super clean with no tears, though dash has a couple small cracks. Everything works and it even came with original factory tape deck. Only problem was a leak in the rear seam of the fuel tank, which is being replaced by a local specialist here in Atlanta. Finding that leak before purchase saved me a bunch of $$ as seller negotiated down to cover the repairs. Mileage is 115k, paid $12,400 and feel good about it.

If I could also throw my own .02 into this thread in regards to prices, I have been watching them for the better part of the last decade and agree with many of you that the past couple years through right now is the time to buy. It has taken me trips across 7 states and years to find one that was this well cared for within my price range.

Wish I could post pics, but definitely will in time as I figure it is tough to own one of these and not regularly check in here with questions.

See you all on the road.

Congrats! That's one nice M5. And low mileage too. I'm jealous that you got one with the original radio/tape player. That's seemed really rare when I was on my hunt last summer.

This one was on autotrader right? I think I called on it, guy was in a meeting and was going to call me right back. Didn't call till a month later, which worked out better because I would have bought it an missed out on the one I got with under 100k and Dinan mods (though I paid a good deal more).

I did find it on autotrader and it had been there for about 6months with crappy pictures. The gentleman was very nice, super easy to deal with, and was pretty knowledgeable about the car, the brand, the history, etc.

You say
the one I got with under 100k and Dinan mods (though I paid a good deal more).
and you are in the M5 prices section, so mind if I ask how much and what mods?

New to the M5 Community - Just purchased an 88 M5

hi guys,

I'm the original owner of a mint 86 325e (90K miles) and a few months ago I started looking for an M5. I found a near mint vehicle last month in Sacramento and I jumped javascript:emoticon('') on it.

It has 149K miles, beautiful cosmetic condition with about 4k of recent repairs by the dealer after it sat idle for 5 years.
New Dunlop wheels, nonstock BSS rims, nonstock cd player, great AC etc. The dash has some cracking, but I have a replacement dash on hand to go in down the road. It runs great.

I really don't know if I overpaid for it...only time will tell, but here's the details... Luxury Motor Cars in Sac. asked $17,995 and I paid $16K including tax, title etc (equivalent of about $14K +/- $500.). It's a small company (4 employees) and each of them drove the car before for a month before it was sold. They said it was hands own the best M5 they had seen...and pointed out some known (to them) minor issues and so far, no surprises.. Great power.

I probably paid too much but I'm pleased with what I got for the $. Lord help me, my BMW mechanic will be looking over the vehicle next week. Crosses fingers. javascript:emoticon(':alright:')

How can I insert pics of the car? or do they have to be URL linked to view?
