Drove it to work for the first time in ages, since the daily driver e23 detonated its radiator the other night. Deleted the UBER RARE engine bay wash option, and got my windscreen squirters working properly again, replaced a whole bunch of hardware in the engine bay with new bolts and nuts, and tidied up some M1.3 wiring.

Next on the cards is to work out why the offside headlight squirter leaks water non-stop.

There was some bodywork to do especially around the license plate lights. (completely blown out) I am capping my expenditures on the car as it has some rusty bumper shocks, etc...so the car isn't going the show route.
When I left it, I decided to go with a Hellrot just to spice it up, when I got it, it looked like this. Oops. I'm bored to tears of the gray, but it's probably better this way.

I had pulled most of the trim, but with the bodywork and prep, about $750. It's a marked improvement, but it's far from perfect. When I picked it up, some trim pieces were missing screws, fasteners' etc when they tried to reassemble it. I had to go over it all again.

I just use it for DD or airport duty, so it's fine for what it is.

Yeah, but I didn't want to wait another 3 weeks to have it resprayed Hellrot. I figure it's a sign that I should keep it gray.

It looks good from here! Red is a radar magnet anyway; 3 tickets and your wife would be pushing for you to sell it. ;)

Good to have you back.

Installed the Iconic5.com sticker on the B9... Courtesy of Shagrat...

Now quick question, are there any issues with the site? I´ve been trying to register there with no luck...

I think that image would be more appropriately added to another thread, like this one. Wouldn't you agree?

Or did you really hang Christmas lights on your e28?

New main fuel pump yesterday! Bracket came out finally with some finagle-ing, and liquid wrench. New clamps as the green bible rec's- lost the smaller 4mm nut that one of the power leads hooks too- even removed exhaust shield looking for. Found a cheapo at Lowe's that will work but not stainless or alloy ( think will be a problem?)

Quick wash and top off of the fuel tank for winter. I was hoping to wait longer but this 'Frankenstorm' may mean he doesn't get to come out and play again until Spring. I'll probably cover him tomorrow and disconnect the battery.

I have spent some quality time with the car since acquiring it and I have to say that I can't believe how long it takes to R&I the front air dam on a 535is. Looks great with the freshly painted dam, new fog lights and fog light trim frame and screws. I am tired though... Getting too old for all this work!

Thought about the ///M on the way back as we passed through Austin.

Swapped out the 3.46 differential with the 3.07 in the H5. Haven't driven it yet, but can't wait to see how it pairs with the turbo setup.

Tonight, while everyone was handing out candy to the van loads of Mexicans, some of high-school age, I removed all of this:

Spent the weekend, with the help of a friend, stripping down my '86 535i in prep for paint in the Spring. In summary we:

- removed taillights, license plate lights, trunk padding
- removed all interior, i.e., seats, door panels, center console, etc. (except driver's seat)
- removed dash
- removed sunroof panel
- removed windshield trim, rain-gutters, C-piller vent panels
- removed hood, trunk, & all door gaskets and sealings
- removed wipers, vent grills, Roundels

Now for a lot of cleaning, e.g., carpet, panels, jams, nook & crannies, etc., and repair a very small rust area in back section of trunk... all in prep for later paint

Meanwhile, order needed parts and continue any other necessary dis-assembly.

Nothing else to divulge here.... move along. :) Plans are fluent and a WIP... more to come :D

Siphoned gas from it into the E46, which gets about 20% better fuel economy. The gas lines are still horrendous out here. Most stations are out – unless you're looking for diesel.

Just scored this on eBay for a lowly $60.08 shipped. Hopefully the description is correct:
Odometer does not work, it reads 81,587 miles. some of the lights are missing from the back. All functions except odometer were working when removed from the car.
Then I can swap in my odometer/speedo and be tach'in it up with BOTH dash lights illuminated. Yeah buddy!

I finally have all 6 marker lights working! Also installed my new to me driver side dome light. And bent my rear most hanger on the newly installed exhaust to make it fit a little better back there.
