Ran with an M5, washed it, vacuumed it out, replaced the negative terminal cable and hardware, scoured the wheels, and worked it out a little bit to make up for two days of sitting. Can't wait for my Bav Auto box to get here so I can really go to work.

Yup-replaced leaking fuel hose between pump and filter.

Changed the brake pads all around in the Schwartz '88 535i yesterday.
Too much to do today, so the brake fluid will have to wait until next week.

i swapped the drivers seat for the passenger seat its like im driving another car. it feels so much different not sitting on the huge tear in my old drivers seat. i also decided i should vacuum the carpets while the seats are out i figured whens the next time ill be able to vacuum under the seats.

Repainted the peeling valve cover. Now that the paint is dry I can reinstall it tonight.

I finally have a 100% functional cluster! It's like a brand new car. My temp gauge isn't bouncy. My SI board lights up when I turn the key. My tach tells me what my RPM's are. It's crazy. I still think the fuel gauge is reading a little low but I think that's the nature of these beasts. It's nice to have both lights illuminated too. I really scored with this $50 eBay find. The odometer gears were broken so I just swapped in my 25k mile odo.
Ooooh yeah, almost forgot, while digging through my ash tray (obviously not used for ashes) I found an old oil change sticker from 2003. 166,000 miles at that point in time. That gives me a good rough idea to go off of while estimating total mileage. I was excited.

electric comfort seats i think. i had to pull the wire out for the headrests on each seat and re wire them. nice with the speedo im going to swap the speedo form my old car in soon when the mileage gets another 1000 miles higher because my odo is clicking still and i believe my old one was not clicking.

It's as documented as it can get. The OG odometer stopped around 190k. This one was installed with 16-17k. But I still add 10k to any estimate that I come up with because I don't know how long the OG one wasn't working...
Just wait, in 7 years when this car is floating around the market, I'll come back and edit this post so it says nothing about swapping a lesser mileage cluster into the car.

In reality, if I trusted myself enough, I would really do some extensive digging to find out where the mileage really sits and then take apart the cluster and make it show as close to the actual mileage as possible. Just takes times, and some research I suppose.

Also went with fresh Billie sports all the way around. The ride is softer than I though, except for the little bumps on the road. But, I did manage to level out the rear thanks to the spring perch adjustments on the rear shocks. It rides level now, and looks the way I had always envisioned it. Pics to come.

I drove it for the first time in several weeks. Hadn't even started it the whole time, but got in, hit the starter, and it popped off on the first try. Can't understand why my wife doesn't like this car as much as I do.

Then I moved back onto the Volvo...

I have been getting bad stories regarding BBS's drive-ability issues. I popped the cap off and wiped out the ten drops of oil that spread carbon around the inside of the cap. I also changed the oil. Road tested and the car performed fine. Next I hear it is doing the same old stuff, I tried to start it this morning. . Starts up easily, dies. I exercised the key for a few cycles just to see that it wasn't intermittent. It wasn't. Loose plug on the AFM? Maybe, It was tight but I worked it any way. I'm hearing a buzzing noise that I traced to the Idle Air valve. The last time it died I left the key on. Doh!. But I noticed the press fit gazinta into the throttle body is loose. Also the IAC mount was loose and so was the entire AFM and air intake. Ill bet the AFM was loose enough so the ground was intermittent. Much better now with everything snugged down properly

Today: replaced in-tank primer pump in the DD; auto trans filter and fluid in same.
Yesterday; helped John mount tires and test fit Dinan/Fiske wheels on the 535.

Removed the German plate from the front, and started removing the little sap dots (which i have taken to calling Satan's dingleberries) from all over the car. I dunno where i parked it that it got all of these splots, but, they are a bastard to remove.

A claybar often does a nice job on these, or try a tar remover.

A claybar often does a nice job on these, or try a tar remover.
I have been using a tar remover. It works, but it's a slow process, and with it being in the high 50s outside, i can't find the motivation to do the entire car at once. I've gotten about a third of it done this weekend, so far.

Check out Nanoskin - looks expensive, but compared to a clay bar that might only do 2-3 cars it's a bargain, and fast! It will do 40-50 cars.

Got around to replacing the bleeding the brake fluid yesterday.
Easy as pie with a pressure bleeder.

Put it on wheel dollies and shoved it to the back of the garage. This year, the rump is sticking out and accessible so I can (finally) swap the rear euro valance onto the backside.
It's only for a few months....

I made one of these (pressure bleeder) when I did my BBK, and it's one of the most useful tools I've ever had.
