Your right
Started tuning and holy shite
traction does not exist
and I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of tuning.
Today was able to get the idle decent, but tuning 85# injectors on a stock engine is challenging. I set the # of squirts to 1 simultaneous and that helped smooth it out.
Data logging recorded 7.5# of boost in first gear with a rolling start and just fried the tires
Haven't even hit second gear yet, not enough room in the driveway.
Can't wait to get it fully tuned and crank it up

Any progress with the car? How is the MS tuning going?

Still tuning, got the idle pretty smooth and still tweaking the ve map. Manage to get to second gear, even more tire spin. Here are some data log pics.

Nice dump tube. That kicks some ass.

Had some time for some tuning and data logging. Here's 2nd 3rd gear pull. The TPS position is correct just haven't floored it yet. Also the wastegate spring is 15psi and highest data log is 173kps, meaning the wastegate has yet to open
Even with the drag radials it still breaks the tires loose in 3rd gear
Hopefully get to the drag strip this week.

Not sure why the wastegate is screwy. The datalog looks good though. The boost is building really quickly! Are you sure your running a 15lb spring? Also, what is your mPa reading with the engine off (P atm)?
Do you have a picture of your VE and spark tables?

I confirmed today it's a 15lbs spring, bought it new from a friend, it's a tial. The MAP is 100kpa with the engine off.

Did you buy the whole wastegate new or just the spring?
Is the valve operating correctly? It looks like the engine builds boost really quickly to about 160Kpa and then slowly creeps up to 170kPa

Note the RPM that this is occuring. That high above the boost threshold, boost should come on that quick. You're seeing what appears to be normal operation of the wastegate. They dont always make full pressure either. My .6 bar spring cracks open at 140kpa. Its not unusual. Consider the spring rating a maximum potential boost pressure.

Bought the whole thing new. The vacuum line is connected on the bottom of the wastegate. I should buy a 10# spring to keep the engine from popping, or just throw some race gas in it and see what happens

I dont think you'll have any problems at 180kpa.
I'd run it.

How about 211kpa at 60% throttle you think it's safe, bone stock motor never been opened with unknown miles
Had the blow off valve hose on wrong which was causing it to open as boost started to build. Swapped the hose and saw 16psi
Got back home cracked open a beer to keep me from driving it again

Got a few short vids at 1/2 throttle last night. Ran a few cars but nothing to video, the cars disappear to quickly:D Running 11.5# of boost spiking to 16#.

how are the oil squirters mythical? You can see them in the picture on the earlier block... look at the holes where the bearings go, there are supposed to be tiny nozzles if you will, that recess into there and thus become oil squirters for the underside of the piston.
There are a few companies that will machine them into a 3.5 Block to BMW factory spec.

Just came back from the dyno, pump gas with 14psi. My street tune wasn't that far off, leaned out the AFR's up top and gained 30whp and advanced the timing a bit. I'm happy:)

Great numbers for 14 psi and 88 air temp. Congrats!

Thanks guys, the first dyno run it laid down 400ftlbs and didn't believe it.
I was going to throw a wastegate controller on it to bump it up to 18psi but figured let me not push my luck with a unknown mileage stock engine.

It's a 7.25" twin plate race clutch w/lightened flywheel, had it on my M10. I think it's good for 600ftlbs. Whole assembly weighs 14lbs.

Ya, having only 91 craptane sucks for you guys.
That is one beefy looking clutch BTW.

tell me about it.
100 octane is available because I don't live that far from the Pomona race track. I think when I finally get the damn car to a dyno in December I'll have a 91 octane tune done as well a 100 octane tune

It was only a matter of time, gasket crapped out on cylinder 1 & 6, the gasket was pretty dried up. Have ARP's on the way with a stock headgasket. The stock headgasket will hold 18psi with head studs right?
Here are some dyno pulls

Engine sounds great on the dyno. The HG didn't last too long though at that level.
