Hi MyE28.com

I have just bought this to lightly resto-mod, so manual conversion, body kit delete, A/C upgrade, ICE upgrade etc.

This place looks like a great resource; thank you for letting me in!

Welcome to the group!

At first I thought it was a M5 as the only ones we got with Shadowline trim were M5's, but other places had different options. Regardless, with the high compression engine it should still be very quick.

Don't really understand why you/anyone would want to remove the MTech tupperware from an M535i but, ok...

You do know the second you remove the original M-tech bits your car will lose value

Eh, some people like it, some don't. Me for instance. I like the front and trunk spoiler, but not the side skirts or rear skirt. I would keep the parts just in case, but I don't care for the tupperware look. :dunno: OP probably doesn't either.

I know it's all personal preference and it is your car after all (at least now it is), but it does seem to be wrong(?) for lack of a better word to go through such a radical transformation of what appears to be an outstanding pristine example of an iconic model such as the M535i (especially being a RHD model which is rarer still). On top of that, it is a later model being a MY 1987.

The M535i is one of those subset models that not everyone likes and is often hard to accept since it's one of the few models BMW sold as an identified stand-alone model much like the E30 M3 (even the E28 M5 was totally customizable). Once you remove the unique MTech kit or it's interior, it loses all its' intrinsic value and uniqueness. In my opinion (which you can either appreciate or completely ignore), if you intend to strip it of the parts that make it an M535i, you might as well do this to a standard run-of-the-mill E28 535i (providing you can find one as nice as this). It's sort of like taking a Ferrari 328GT and replacing the motor with Chevy V8; sure you can do it, but...why?

Anyway, again it's your car, do with it what you please.

Collect it today; I now think it will stay stock!

Hello and welcome!
Don't worry about the nay sayers, if you want to remove the bodykit then go ahead.

I would suggest to keep the original bits just in case though.
