Harness Pins and Sockets

Working overhauling some things on DorytheBlue's 86 535i including a power seat swap. This went down a rabbit hole of harnesses, buttons and all sorts, some more fruitful than others. Before I go soldering together a harness that someone cut the connectors off of, I thought I'd raid my stash of pins and sockets to see if I had anything that would work. Unfortunately the locks are positioned higher up the barrel which puts the socket well below it's flush position. This is true of all the sockets I have.

I'm not a fan of soldering the harness if the correct components can be found. I'd change both sides of the connection with current product but one side is the seat controller unfortunately. One option I suppose is to turn the hacked off connector into one side of an adapter harness and install a new connector pair between it and the harness. BUT! Is there a source for these NLA-from-BMW pins and sockets?

Yeah, mouser / digikey probably has them if we can figure out what the pins are. Can you post a pic of the pin next to a (preferably metric) ruler?

There are three locking tabs - the two you can see and a third around the back. I dug through a number (but certainly not all...) of the sockets on Digikey the other day, without a ton of confidence that I'd found something suitable.

This last image highlighted the letters "AMP" stamped into the bottom, perhaps for Amphenol if we're lucky. I'm going to have a dig through the various vendors and see if I can't find them with that little crumb of a lead.

"AMP" is almost certainly TE Connectivity - it's a TE product line for connectors

These look like TE Connectivity Multimate Series III+ contacts.

I would have to agree, that is most fantastic. I will order some and find out.
